Sorrowful news: The head coach of AC has announced the death of his all-time player.

For the first time since his dismissal from AC Milan as technical director, Paolo Maldini has spoken out. He first says that the club’s justifications for firing him “were a little weak,” and then he calls on executives to “respect the club’s identity.”

The club legend played for the Rossoneri for 24 years, making 901 appearances and scoring 33 goals. During that time, he won three Champions League titles.

The 55-year-old hung up his boots and joined the Serie A team in an executive capacity before being named technical director in 2019. In spite of this, his status has been called into question over the last 18 months due to the underwhelming performances of a few new hires.
Prior to his dismissal, Mail Sport was aware that the former defender had a heated discussion with the team’s owner, Gerry Cardinale. Maldini has now elaborated on those discussions in an interview with La Repubblica.

According to The Athletic, Maldini told the Italian publication, “Cardinale told me and [Ricky] Massara (Milan’s former sporting director) that we were fired.”
