Another horrible piece of news: The head coach and top player of the Flyers disclosed yet another devastating piece of news.
Head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, John Tortorella, was open about the team’s lack of interest in defenseman Nick Seeler.

Following the 4-2 triumph over the Ottawa Senators this evening, Tortorella revealed the team’s thoughts on Seeler and the trade deadline.

Tortorella responded, “We said that from the get-go, we’re not looking to trade Seels,” when asked if he preferred that Seeler stay on the team. “He’s a huge part of the competitiveness of the room that brings that room together.”

Around the trade deadline, Seeler, a 30-year-old left-shot defender, became highly sought-after by other teams.

Sean Walker, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers, has updates regarding his contracts as the trade deadline draws near.

He is a +15 but has only scored 12 points in 62 games this season. Seeler has a career score of +11. Although the Flyers have had difficulties lately, his first season with the team in 2021–2022—where he finished as a -3—was his worst. Every year he has played for the squad, he has also spent more time on the ice. He averaged 13:04 TOI in 21–22. He is averaging a career-high 16:58 this season.

His famed head coach spared no details in his glowing praise.

“He’s one of the true competitors that I’ve ever coached as far as he handles himself,” stated Tortorella.

It’s unclear if general manager Danny Briere will deal either defenseman in addition to Sean Walker. Tortorella has been a major contributor to the Flyers’ success this year, so keeping Seeler seems like the appropriate move if they want to secure a postseason berth.
