“Our former player Jody Lukoki has passed away at the age of 29,” Ajax tweeted. Peace be with you, Jody.”
Following his conviction for assaulting his girlfriend earlier this year, Lukoki’s contract with Twente was canceled.
He also represented PEC Zwolle, Malatyaspor, and Ludogorets as a club player.
Zwolle honored the football player with a statement that read, “PEC Zwolle has learned of the far too early death of former player Jody Lukoki with dismay and sadness.
“As PEC Zwolle’s first goal scorer in a recognized European competition, Lukoki will always be remembered. PEC Zwolle sends its deepest sympathies to Jody Lukoki’s family for their immense loss.”
