Sorrowful: The Detriot Lions head coach has confirmed the death of his all-time favorite player

The expression “Same old Lions” connotes the losing mentality of a team that has only experienced one postseason victory in the contemporary era.

Any discussion of possible success is greeted with a raised eyebrow, particularly given the history of disappointed Detroit Lions fans.

Every NFL season begins with a sense of optimism that quickly wanes as it becomes clear that more suffering is what’s ultimately going to happen.

Head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes are enjoying a great deal of positive press in the second year of the rebuild, primarily from the national media, who firmly believe that the Lions are a football team that can win seven or eight games in 2022.

According to Campbell, Rich Strike’s recent victory at the Kentucky Derby was “inspiring” and motivational.

Campbell and Holmes both reaffirm in a recent feature article by Peter King of NBC Sports that the players on the roster are committed to making things right and that the roster is made up of players who, like the Derby winner, are capable of shocking a lot of doubters.

“I believe I have guys who are similar to Rich Strike.” I believe it feeds our fire every time we hear the S-O-L, the same old lions, and everything else, Campbell said to King. “We adore it. That’s how we all feel, I believe. That’s the way we all speak. That is how all of us think. Nothing about it is phony.

Although there is reason for genuine optimism, the time to put aside platitudes has arrived.

The Lions’ training camp is quickly approaching.

The days of sanguine conjecture will be drawing to an end.

The Detroit Lions NFL football team needs to unite and strive toward eradicating all of the unfavorable stereotypes that exist on the field.
