The Green Bay Packers could be set offensively for a very long time with just one or two more moves. The offense features several young, gifted players who have shown the league that they are capable of scoring points against almost any NFL defense.
There are many talented players in place for a bright future, even though the defense might use some improvement. The goal of the newly assembled defensive coaching staff is to usher in a new era for the Green Bay defense. That period, though, might have been devoid of one of their internal dramatists.

Once more, De’Vondre Campbell is not the Green Bay Packers’ free agent at this time, but he may be in the near future.
This offseason, the Packers have been rearranging a lot of contracts related to their roster, including important veterans like Preston Smith and Rashan Gary. It’s quite telling that, as far as we know, a player like De’Vondre Campbell hasn’t been contacted about a restructure at this time.
After being signed as a free agent as a “reclamation project,” Campbell enjoyed a successful tenure with the Packers and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 2021. His output and availability have decreased ever since. The Packers only had him in 11 games the previous season, and to be honest, they may have better options in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Campbell is not getting any younger; he will be 31 next season. Furthermore, Campbell’s age and past history of injuries may work against him if he tries to sign a contract with another NFL team.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Campbell with their fourth-round pick (115th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft. After Deion Jones from LSU, Campbell was chosen by the Falcons in 2016 as their backup linebacker. That year’s 16th pick overall was a linebacker. On May 5, 2016, the Falcons signed Campbell to a four-year, $2.90 million contract that included a $565,528 signing bonus.
On April 3, 2020, the Cardinals signed him to a one-year contract after his time with the Falcons. On June 9, 2021, Campbell signed a contract with the Packers following his tenure with the Cardinals. He was selected by the team to start alongside Krys Barnes at inside linebacker.
On March 17, 2022, Campbell re-signed with the Packers for a $50 million, five-year contract. Under his current contract, Campbell will have a cap hit of slightly over $14.2 million in 2024 (source: spotrac.com). The Packers would save about $2.6 million by letting go of the former standout player from University of Minnesota. The Packers would also be responsible for a dead cap expense of $11.6 million.
