According to NBA writer Mark Medina, the Golden State Warriors will try to resign Draymond Green in the offseason, but both sides may have to make financial concessions to make a deal work.
The 33-year-old must now decide whether to exercise his $27.6 million player option for the 2023–24 campaign. He has been strongly connected to a move out of San Francisco.
Regarded as an integral part of a Warriors dynasty that has advanced to the NBA Finals six times since 2015, taking home four championship rings along the way, much conjecture surrounds Draymond Green’s potential future as a basketball player for the upcoming season and beyond.
Several teams are reportedly interested in signing the former Michigan State player, according to Shams Charania, NBA writer for The Athletic.
But league insiders, as reported by NBC Sports, claim that the Warriors would prefer to keep Green, but it would require extensive negotiations over the money.
Due in large part to the multi-million dollar contracts that Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole received, the Warriors do not have a lot of financial space with which to work.
Even though Medina’s contract is about to expire, he still thinks Golden State will be able to make a deal for the 6’6″ power forward.
