“I’ll leave if he’s not fired.” Due to their major miscommunication, a key player for the Oklahoma Sooners has stated he will leave the team if his colleague is not dismissed.
A football player from Oklahoma has declared his retirement. This player, who has been a member of the Sooners since 2020, is former three-star edge Brynden Walker.
Walker says in a statement that he has been dealing with back issues for the past few years. Consequently, he is leaving football behind.
Walker was a 2020 class-edge recruit rated three stars. That year, he was ranked No. 41 among outside linebackers and No. 631 overall.
“For the last 16 years of my life, I’ve worked hard to be in the position I’m in today, but with a heavy heart, I’ve decided that it’s best for me and my long-term health to walk away from the sport I love so much,” Walker posted to Twitter.
“To whom it may concern, over the past two years, I have experienced back problems that have resulted in significant absences from work. I have countless wonderful memories from my time as an Oklahoma Sooner, and I consider myself fortunate to have built relationships that will last a lifetime. I’ve never had to make a tougher choice than this one, but I’m retiring with no regrets.”
It was a disheartening turn of events for the football player from Oklahoma and the entire program.
Walker intends to join Brent Venables’ staff as a student assistant for the Sooners.
