AMESBURY, Mass. — Bill Belichick, the coach of the New England Patriots, deviated from his custom of not talking about his contract, as rumors regarding his future loom over the team.
During the team’s “disappointing” 4-13 season, Belichick discussed how he would continue to analyze it during his regular-season-ending video conference early on Monday. He also reminded reporters that he was under contract. I will continue to come in every day and work as hard as I can to support the team in any way that I can.
Entering his 24th season, Belichick has frequently stated that he will not respond to inquiries regarding his contract, which has been one of the NFL’s most closely-kept secrets.

Belichick responded, “Look, I’m for whatever we collectively decide as an organization is the best thing to help our football team,” when asked if he would consider giving up personnel authority. In that, I play many different roles and depend on many others to assist me in carrying out my duties; ultimately, someone has to make the final decision. Belichick refused to say if he had received any word from Kraft that his job was in danger.

“It was evidently a really disappointing season overall. It falls far short of our standards and expectations, players, coaches, staff, organization, and everyone else. Thus, clearly, something needs to be fixed “, he remarked.
