It’s sad to hear that the AC Milan head coach has signed a monster contract.

Stefano Pioli, the coach of AC Milan, received a two-year contract extension from the Italian champions as compensation for his title-winning efforts.

The 57-year-old Pioli has signed a new contract with Milan that runs through June 2025, the team announced on Monday. This season’s end marked the expiration of his previous contract.

“Having begun this virtuous path, which led to the 2021–22 Serie A title, AC Milan and Stefano shall continue to work on this ambitious project that reflects the club’s history and values,” the club said in a statement.

It’s a long way from the beginning of 2020, when Pioli was on the verge of being fired after only a few months on the job, and Ralf Rangnick took his place. Before reversing course, Milan was in advanced talks with the German coach.

Marcotti: Milan lost in Torino as a result of their poor defense.

That proved to be a wise decision because Pioli led Milan to second place in Serie A that season and then improved it with their first championship in eleven years the following season.

Pioli was also named Serie A coach of the year. Prior to this, Pioli had never won anything in his managerial career.

Milan is six points behind league leader Napoli in third place in Serie A. Additionally, they only need to defeat Salzburg at home on Wednesday in order to advance to the Champions League knockout stages.
