With a 27-16 victory over the lowly Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Chicago Bears improved their record. With this victory, the Bears now have six for the season, but they will probably miss out on the playoffs. The season now boils down to Chicago’s draft position because the deck is stacked against them.

On the injury front, though, the Bears got some positive news on Wednesday. All four players who did not play on Sunday morning practiced in full. Before Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, Teven Jenkins, D’Onta Foreman, Noah Sewell, and Equanimeous St. Brown all appear to be on the rise.

Three players were absent from Wednesday’s practice, despite some encouraging news. Due to knee injuries, Cole Kmet missed practice, Lucas Patrick missed practice as well, and Darnell Mooney missed practice because of a concussion.

Four Bears who were inactive for the Week 16 victory over the Cardinals had a full practice on Wednesday. On the first practice day of Week 17, three new Bears were not in the gym.

The injury report has some bad news, but there’s also one noteworthy omission. Not listed on the injury report is DJ Moore, who played a minimal role in Sunday’s victory after getting his ankle caught under a rival player. It’s all positive news heading into Week 17 that the Bears’ top receiver is not listed on the injury report.

In Week 17, Kmet, Mooney, and Patrick would be significant losses for the Bears. Justin Fields loves to target Kmet, and Kmet is a nice complement to DJ Moore. Furthermore, Mooney has been lackluster in 2023 while Patrick has performed passably at the center position. If Kmet and Patrick don’t suit up on New Year’s Eve, their absences will be the most noticeable.

On Sunday, December 31, the Bears play their final home game of the season at Soldier Field against the Atlanta Falcons. The game will start at 12:00 PM CT.
