Amazing news: Sunderland makes an offer of £90,000 for a player that numerous clubs are fighting for
Danny Collins, a former player for Sunderland, thinks the Black Cats can challenge for the fifth and sixth spots in the Championship table this year.
On Boxing Day, Michael Beale accomplished his first victory since joining Sunderland, defeating Hull City 1-0.
They have risen back to sixth place after three victories over the Tigers, and they will now play Rotherham United, who are currently bottom of the league table, on Friday.
Collins emphasized that Sunderland’s chances of finishing in fifth or sixth place are still open and that Beale’s team must continue to grind out victories because this season’s playoff race is close.
The former Black Cats player said that despite Rotherham’s standing in the league table, the Millers will be full of confidence following their Tuesday victory over Middlesbrough.

Collins informed the Sunderland players that their recent trips to New York Stadium had not been enjoyable.
Collins responded to a question about the playoff race from Sunderland’s media by saying, “Tight pack, in there in amongst it.”
“It seems like you despise Leeds, who trail West Brom by six points and have everything to play for.”
“Like I said,I still like those two spots that are up for grabs, fifth and sixth.
“There’s still a lot of football left to play, and Leeds or Southampton could emerge from that pack as well if they start playing really well.
We simply need to keep winning, grinding out victories, and traveling to Rotherham on Friday.
“People will look at the table; they are down there, but they are playing well at home against Middlesbrough today [Tuesday], and we have been there before, emerging victorious after a season or two of humiliation.”
It’s unclear whether Beale’s team will be able to break that record on Friday, as Sunderland have lost their last two trips to New York Stadium.
