The NFC North rival of the Detroit Lions is set to challenge you for the top spot among fantasy football offenses in 2024. An explosive attack has everything it needs, starting with the signal-caller.

Following in Aaron Rodgers’ enormous footsteps, Jordan Love went from being a preseason question mark (QB23 and projected to go in the 11th round by Yahoo ADP) to becoming one of just four quarterbacks to throw for at least 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2024.

His season was a roller coaster, as he threw for six touchdowns in each of the first two games, then six games in which he only threw for one touchdown. The question of whether the Packers would be searching for a quarterback in the offseason was a hot topic at the time.

With a spectacular nine-game season finale that saw 2,439 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, Love put an end to that criticism and finished as the QB3 during that time. Love destroyed the Cowboys in Dallas under the spotlight of the playoffs, winning 272-3 and leading Green Bay over the 49ers in the fourth quarter before a last-minute interception ended the Packers’ season. Nevertheless, Green Bay has its quarterback for the foreseeable future in him, along with a group of pass-catchers who are both young and skilled.

The only issue for fantasy managers, as Andy Behrens and Matt Harmon clarify in the video above, is that there is such an embarrassment of riches at receiver that it can be challenging to determine whether a player is an alpha in the group. Romeo Doubs led the Packers in targets with 96, but no receiver received 100 targets. Furthermore, only three pass-catchers in the entire season were able to draw ten targets. Nonetheless, these wide receivers had moments of brilliance throughout the season that offered hope for more.

Since he demonstrated dual-threat ability with 912 total yards and 10 touchdowns this summer, rookie Jayden Reed might be the first player from the group off the draft boards. In crucial wins to secure a postseason berth, he finished the regular season with 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns. With a total of 10 catches for 234 yards and a touchdown in the two playoff games, Doubs was at the top of his game and caught eight touchdowns. Reed might have more room to develop out of the two.

Christian Watson is a mystery; he only appeared in nine games due to injury limitations. However, he really dialed up his speed and athleticism in Weeks 12 and 13, finishing 12-165-3. Keep yourself well, Mr. Watson. Dontayvion Wicks caught both touchdowns in a 17-9 season-finale victory over the Bears, demonstrating this group’s five-deep ability. Bo Melton recorded a 6-105-1 two weeks after failing to register a catch until Week 15.

“I’m really excited about this Packers receiver room, and part of me is also like, is it a cautionary tale?” Harmon continued, “For how many guys they have, that we can’t really get too far over our skis with, like, one or two of them, because how much opportunity is there really going to be there, even if Jordan Love is a stud, and I think Jordan Love is a stud?”

Furthermore, wideouts aren’t the only players with receiving ability. Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft, two rookie tight ends, combined to catch 65 balls for over 700 yards, making them a formidable duo. They could elevate this team to new heights with another season under Matt LaFleur’s offensive scheme.

And we still haven’t talked about the player who, aside from Love, might be the most significant. Before Week 15, Aaron Jones saw over ten rush attempts twice and missed six games. However, Jones averaged a whopping 5.7 yards per carry and exceeded 100 rushing yards per game in his last five games, including two in the postseason. He was the focal point of the Green Bay offense. Even though Jones will be entering his 29th season, he should return, albeit most likely with a new running partner in the backfield, to ensure he is not fatigued at the end of the campaign.

It makes sense that, in Cheesehead Country and the fantasy football community, optimism has replaced those doubts about this explosive offense’s future just six months later.
