Southampton is working hard to get a Man Utd transfer agreement over Sunderland and Leicester.

During the January transfer window, Southampton is actively trying to sign Manchester United’s Amad Diallo.
The winger helped the Black Cats qualify for the playoffs during a fantastic season of playing on loan at Sunderland in the Championship.
Although Southampton is currently making the biggest push for the 21-year-old, other Championship clubs are also interested in him.

Amad Diallo, a winger for Manchester United, is being pursued by Southampton during the January transfer window.

This is in line with a report from Football Insider, which claims that at the beginning of the new year, the 21-year-old might be permitted to go on loan from Old Trafford.

Diallo already has a history of championships.
After making nine senior appearances for Manchester United in the past and going on loan to Rangers, Diallo played in the Championship on loan with Sunderland the previous season.

The winger had a fantastic campaign, making 42 appearances across all competitions and dishing out four assists in addition to 14 goals, helping the Black Cats advance to the playoffs.

Unfortunately, Diallo hasn’t had the opportunity to improve on that record this season due to a knee injury sustained during the preseason.

Thus, it appears that when the market reopens next month, Ivory Cost International might once more be in the mix.

Southampton starts the race to transfer Diallo
The most recent information from Football Insider indicates that Southampton is negotiating a possible contract to finalize the 21-year-old’s acquisition by the end of next month.

The same source has previously stated that Sunderland and Leicester City, the Saints’ Championship rivals, are also considering a possible deal for the winger when the transfer window opens.

Nevertheless, it seems Southampton is the team currently exerting the most pressure to sign the 21-year-old.

After a protracted injury layoff, Diallo is now expected to make his way back to the field. There are rumors that a deal to leave Old Trafford temporarily may be finalized, which would allow him to regain match fitness.

As things stand, Diallo’s contract with Manchester United has 18 months left on it. The club has the option to extend it by an additional 12 months, which would guarantee Diallo’s stay with them through the conclusion of the 2025–2026 campaign.

Sunderland, Southampton, and Leicester are all vying for promotion in the Championship.
The three teams that are currently vying for promotion to the Premier League are eager to get Diallo back in the Championship.

At the moment, Southampton is three spots and thirteen points behind Leicester in the Championship table.

As things stand, Sunderland is currently three points outside of the play-off spots in seventh place in the standings.
