Good news: Coventry City’s big summer transfer rebuild reaches its conclusion today with Mark Robins

Today marks the culmination of Coventry City’s massive summer transfer overhaul, as Mark Robins looks to assemble his team for the 2023–24 Championship.

Star players Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer were unwillingly sold for a combined sum of almost £35 million during this eventful window. This, together with nearly 19,000 season ticket sales, has given the manager the financial leverage to bolster and greatly refill his club.

So far, the Sky Blues have added eight permanent players: center-halves Joel Latibeaudiere from Swansea (compensation), striker Ellis Simms from Everton for an initial £3.5 million, goalkeeper Brad Collins from Barnsley (undisclosed), Bobby Thomas for a reported £2 million from Burnley, Milan van Ewijk for £3.4 million from SC Heerenveen, and striker Haji Wright for a club record £7.7 million from Turkish side Antalyaspor.

Additionally, the team has recruited two loan players: Brighton’s Yasin Ayari, an offensive midfielder, and Bologna’s Luis Binks, a center back.

Robins still has time to spend a little more money on a center defender and a central midfielder to bolster his team. With the exception of backup goalie Simon Moore, nobody else is anticipated to depart by tonight’s 11 p.m. deadline.
