It has been suggested that the Green Bay Packers move Aaron Rodgers in light of their unexpected season opening performance.
Rodgers had considered his time under head coach Matt LaFleur after back-to-back MVP seasons, and he had earned every bit of his new contract this past summer.
The Denver Broncos reportedly offered a haul to bring in Aaron Rodgers, and the Packers received offers to let him go. But in the end, the Broncos lost patience and made the Seattle Seahawks an offer akin to this in order to sign Russell Wilson. This move hasn’t worked out well for Denver, as Wilson has mostly struggled.
Surprisingly, though, the Packers decided to transfer Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for draft capital, giving up their favorite receiving target, Aaron Rodgers, after deciding to keep him.
With 51 touchdowns in the last four years, Adams has established himself as one of the all-time great Packers receivers and been among the league’s finest receivers. However, as his contract was up for renewal, the Packers decided to let him go. Furthermore, Green Bay selected Christian Watson in the second round and Romeo Doubs in the fourth, but otherwise made little effort to replace the standout wide receiver. Both appear to have the potential to develop into excellent receivers, but they are far from Adams’ caliber.
Additionally, a former linebacker for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens said on ESPN’s First Take that the Packers erred in bringing back Rodgers if they weren’t going to keep Adams. “They should trade him,” Scott remarked.
