Unbeliveable; The altlanta falcons former head coach arthur Smith has announce his return to the team

Following a crushing loss to the New Orleans Saints in the 2023 season finale, the Atlanta Falcons and their head coach, Arthur Smith, mutually decided to part ways on Monday, according to reports.

After the Falcons’ third consecutive losing season, Arthur Smith, who took over a rebuilding project in his first NFL head coaching position and was unable to end Atlanta’s playoff drought, departed a few hours later.

Smith, 41, who is the son of FedEx founder Fred Smith, had a 21-30 record at the finish. Every year, he traveled 7–10.

Smith was fired following a 48-17 loss to New Orleans, which was his second-worst performance of the season and was only surpassed by a 43-3 rout at Dallas in 2021. The Falcons have lost four of their past five games and were thoroughly outclassed in Smith’s final two games, falling to Chicago 37-17 one week ago.

Since the Falcons’ last postseason appearance in 2017, they have had six straight losing seasons.

Smith had a meeting with CEO Rich McKay and owner Arthur Blank following the team’s return to Atlanta. Shortly after midnight, the NFL announced the firing, marking the first of many anticipated coaching changes on “Black Monday.”

This 1966 league-entry team is still looking for its first Super Bowl victory. With advice from general manager Terry Fontenot—who is staying on after being hired ahead of the 2021 season—Blank and McKay will spearhead the coaching search.

Following a ten-year tenure as an assistant and advancement to the position of offensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans, Smith was hired by the Falcons in 2021.

After his first two losing seasons, Smith didn’t feel too much pressure from Atlanta because of the team’s severe salary cap problems, which were caused by the trade of two franchise mainstays, Julio Jones and quarterback Matt Ryan.

With Blank making it plain that he expected nothing less than the team’s first postseason appearance since 2017 following a free-agent spending binge to bolster the defense and the use of three consecutive top-10 draft picks on offensive playmakers in Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson, the expectations on Smith have skyrocketed this season.

However, Smith’s quarterback play was inconsistent throughout the season, alternating between Taylor Heinicke and Desmond Ridder.
