“Attack Anything That Moves!” Ravens’ New DC Zach Orr Discloses the Identity of Defense
Dalvin Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl running back, parted company with the New York Jets on Tuesday and only cleared waivers a few hours later. Since then, he has found a temporary residence in Charm City. It has been reported by Adam Schefter that the seventh-year veteran, whose agency is Loyalty Above All, is poised to sign a practice squad contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

Cook wanted to play for a contender, and it appears he is fulfilling that ambition to the fullest extent possible by signing with the AFC’s top-seeded team, which has the best record at 13-3 and perhaps the greatest squad in the league. After seeing limited action with the Jets, the 28-year-old is in football shape and has relatively fresh legs, unlike some veteran free-agent acquisitions inked around this time of year.
He gained 214 rushing yards on 67 runs and 78 receiving yards from 15 receptions out of 20 targets in 15 games, one of which he started in New York.
After four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending ruptured Achilles, the Jets season descended into despair and chaos. Originally brought in to create a formidable tandem with second-year pro Breece Hall, Cook fell farther down the depth chart as the 2022 second-round pick emerged as the team’s mainstay over the latter half of the year.
After bringing back undrafted rookie cornerback Jeremy Lucien earlier this week, the Ravens presently have all 16 of their practice squad spots filled; therefore, they will need to make a comparable move to officially announce the signing. Cook joins a crowded veteran backfield that already includes Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and former two-time Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon on the active roster, as well as undrafted rookie Owen Wright and third-year pro Jake Funk on the practice squad. Cook is just one year removed from making four straight Pro Bowls with the Minnesota Vikings from 2019 to 2022.
