Prior to their match against Arsnal, one of West Ham’s star player suffered a serious injury that could end his career during training. This will be a huge setback for the team.
Following knocks suffered by Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, and Konstantinos Mavropanos in West Ham United’s 1-1 FA Cup third round draw against Bristol City, the team is facing injury concerns.
Due to an aggravating calf injury, Paqueta was limited to just 14 minutes of play and did not participate in Brighton & Hove Albion’s goalless draw. Paqueta was replaced in the 33rd minute after sustaining the injury during the warm-up prior to the team’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal away.
Both the Brazil international and Jarrod Bowen, who scored the goal against Bristol City, are questionable for the replay against the Championship team due to injuries.
“I’m more disappointed in Paqueta; we managed to get him back, but he leaves after five or ten minutes,” Moyes remarked. We all understood that since he had trained yesterday, everything would be alright. However, it’s clear that he must be bothered by something, and it’s the same injury.
Due to a left ankle injury, Bowen—who has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season—needed two physio team members to help him off the field. Another setback for Moyes, who is already without Mohammed Kudus due to his Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ghana, came last Friday when Michail Antonio, who has been out of action since November due to a knee injury, experienced a setback in his training.
“That time of year is when injuries can happen,” Moyes remarked. Over the years, we have witnessed it. For the most part this season, we’ve had a very clear sheet of health. Hopefully, they’ll be alright, but we’ll have to wait and see.
After he landed awkwardly after a contested header with Tommy Conway, a forward for Bristol City, Mavropanos took a knock.
