Why the Bears could not afford to improve their offensive situation in the final three games amazes me much.

Chicago’s Lake Forest — On Monday at Halas Hall, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus stood at the platform and read out a list of the team’s achievements during the previous five weeks. They were all connected to the defense.

With the exception of two games against a vulnerable Lions defense, the Bears’ offense has been on the verge of disaster for more than a month.

After two encounters with the Lions, the Bears have averaged 335 yards and 27 points per game. The Bears have averaged 12.6 offensive points and 282.2 yards per game in their last three games against the Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns.

The Bears lost to the Cleveland Browns 20-17 on Sunday, going three and out on nine of their fifteen possessions and going 4 for 19 on third down.

Bears snap count: The remaining three games will not resolve the Bears’ offensive problems first broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago

Chicago’s Lake Forest — On Monday at Halas Hall, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus stood at the platform and read out a list of the team’s achievements during the previous five weeks. They were all connected to the defense.

Eberflus expressed his satisfaction with the number of times the Bears tried to outmaneuver the Browns’ defense. The head coach did point out that when the defense gives the Bears a chance, they can make shooting plays more frequently.

Luke Getsy, the offensive coordinator, sets the tone first, then Fields follows advice to hit the trigger.

Regarding the shot plays, Eberflus remarked, “Some of them are not there.” They were presenting them to us yesterday. There is always a release mechanism at the bottom of the shot. We occasionally examine certain items when they are absent. However, you must definitely seize the chance and initiate the play.

Aside from the spectacular plays, the Bears had a terrible time in short-yardage scenarios on Sunday at Cleveland. Fields rolled to the right on a fourth-and-1 play, but he was tripped up just short of the line to gain. Although it looked like Mooney missed a block on the broadcast, Mooney and Eberflus both clarified that Mooney was blocking because they thought Moore would be the one receiving the ball. The play was actually a run-pass option pick play.

Darnell is now speaking. He is playing the DJ. Regarding the play, Eberflus stated, “DJ is running his route, and then you have a run-pass option on the edge.” It is a cleverly constructed play. He made the decision to run it, but at that very moment, he stumbled. Furthermore, if he had more time and lacked that defender, he would have ended up triggering, and we could have also thrown it to DJ.

The exchange of information was satisfactory. It was excellent. Was it guy coverage, I understand? Later, Eberflus stated. “moved in a jet motion. They advanced the coverage. Actually, it is been knocked over by the safety. They should have, in my opinion, spun to face the middle of the field, but they didn’t. In the center of the field, nobody was present. The person on DJ ultimately set Justin off. Justin caught sight of it. Mooney attempted to grab a hold of Justin as he headed for the line to gain. He saw a glimpse of him. He completed the course in running. The way it was done was excellent.”

The Bears’ offense has not performed well all season, especially over the last five games. This includes poor execution on shot plays, run-pass options, and the dropback game.

The Bears have three games in 2024 to decide what may be saved, but they will run out of time to discover solutions for their offensive problems in 2023
