The Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid has just announced another NFL trade deadline, which is…
The Kansas City Chiefs are still winning. The Chiefs opened the season with a loss to the Detroit Lions, but they haven’t lost since en route to a 6-1 lead. The Chiefs appear ready for a championship run once more, led by the skillful quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Could this be the ideal time to make at least one trade deadline move, with a club defending a title and the finest quarterback in sports behind center? One could argue that, in their pursuit of a back-to-back in 2023, the Chiefs may surreptitiously add more weapons to bolster their talented roster.
Kansas City Chiefs Trade Before the Deadline
After getting back together with wide receiver Mecole Hardman in recent weeks, the Chiefs have already entered the NFL trade market. The Chiefs chose to send a late-round draft pick to the Jets in order to acquire Hardman, who was practically useless for the Jets in New York, rather than having him sit on their bench.

Could the Chiefs add players to the roster even after making that move? Perhaps even once more at wide receiver. Let’s examine a few choices that could be beneficial to the group.
Hollywood Brown, WR for the Arizona Cardinals, Marquise Brown, is a dynamic speed option who might flourish in the Chiefs scheme under quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The addition of a second wide receiver option who can stretch the field and be a deep target for Mahomes and the offense may greatly enhance this already effective offensive approach. The rebuilding and player-moving Cardinals may be willing to play ball to make this happen.
Brown has three touchdowns, 383 yards, and 32 receptions through seven games thus far. He has established himself as a dependable option for receiving passes in an intriguing Cardinals offense that is focused on the long term. At the end of the season, Brown, who is in the last year of his rookie contract, will become an unrestricted free agent.
The Cardinals must decide whether to start over in 2024 with a new head coach and perhaps a new quarterback and use this as an opportunity to get something in return, or whether they see Brown in their plans and attempt to lock him up for what will be a sizable payoff. Should they choose the latter, it might be an ideal match for the current Chiefs offensive scheme.
New England Patriots safety guard Lawrence Guy
Even with Chris Jones in the middle of their defense, it’s always worth looking at adding quality depth at a fair price.
For a Chiefs club aiming to win the championship, Lawrence Guy would bring a seasoned presence on a team-friendly contract. He would contribute well in the run defense and pass rush.
