SEALED: The incredible star was ultimately signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning following extensive negotiations.
With the signing of winger Brandon Hagel to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension ($6.5 million AAV), the Tampa Bay Lightning have made a significant move. It is scheduled to start in the 2024–25 season.
Hagel has a cheap $1.5 million cap hit as he enters the final season of his current contract. But after this season, the talented forward will receive a sizable raise, and he has earned it.
Hagel just finished a fantastic 2022–23 season with the Lightning, setting new career highs with 30 goals, 64 points, and a plus–23 rating. With a new extension in place, the 24-year-old will now look to build on his fantastic season.
Now, Hagel will be a key member of the Lightning for a number of years to come. Considering that he is still only 24 years old, if he keeps getting better in his prime, this could be a really good deal.
