Another important player for the Chiefs has announced his retirement due to this heartbreaking…
After this season, Kansas City Chiefs standout Travis Kelce says he intends to keep playing football.
During the news conference on Thursday, Kelce was questioned regarding remarks he had made earlier in the season, stating that he considers retirement “more than anyone could ever imagine.”
The tight end, 34, responded in a humorous manner. He enquired, “You guys think about retirement?” “Do I have company in that boat?”
Then, Kelce got serious, saying, “I don’t see why I should give up on football.” I adore it. I really adore the daily challenge it provides me to strive for excellence. As I already stated, I don’t want to quit anytime soon.
After an amazing 11-year run, Kelce was the subject of rumors during the regular season, with some believing he would be retiring. The two-time Super Bowl champion chose to skip Week 18 rather than chase the stats, falling 16 yards short of what would have been a historic seventh consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season.
Given how well Kelce has built a life outside of football—between his rich endorsement deals, co-hosting the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, and other extracurricular activities—his future in the NFL may be seen as more open-ended than most.
Kelce denied any and all reports of retirement chatter, emphasizing he wasn’t ready to put up his cleats just yet, with the 2023 postseason drawing near.
I’ve had the good fortune to pursue a few interests outside of sports, such as being on camera. My time on Saturday Night Live kind of led to a newfound sense of contentment and perhaps even a new professional path. However, I believe it will be lot closer to the future than it is now.
At 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Kelce and the Chiefs will get ready to take on the Miami Dolphins in the wild-card round.
