Another important player for the Boston Celtics has announced his retirement due to this heartbreaking…

After representing Italy in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, former Boston Celtics forward and fan favorite Luigi Datome announced his retirement from the game.

In 18 games with the venerable Celtics team during the 2014–15 regular season, Datome, 35, averaged 5.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists, and 0.4 blocks per game.

The 6-foot-8 forward made significant progress while playing basketball abroad. He was named the MVP of the Turkish Super Cup in 2017, the MVP of the Lega Basket Serie A in 2017, and the MVP of the Italian Basketball Cup in 2021. Datome was also a two-time member of the elite 50-40-90 club in the EuroLeague.

Despite his brief and uneventful tenure with the Celtics, Datome will always be regarded as one of the best basketball players of Italian descent in history.

To put his mental health first, Ricky Rubio has said he will be retiring from the NBA. The news was announced by the Spanish basketball player via a social media message. In his 12 years in the NBA, the 33-year-old has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Spain, where he won a world championship in 2019.

In order to prioritize his mental health, Spanish basketball player Ricky Rubio has declared he is retiring from the NBA.
The 33-year-old, who was most recently a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, announced the news on social media in a statement.
Rubio made the decision to put his health first after revealing in August that he would be taking a vacation from basketball.

“Hello, July 30th was one of the toughest nights of my life,” he stated in a statement. I entered a dark area in my head.I’ve never believed I wasn’t in charge of the circumstance, even if I kind of knew I was headed in that route.I

made the decision to end my professional career the next day. When the time is appropriate, I would want to tell you all about my entire experience in order to support those who are going through comparable circumstances.”I’m still

working on my mental health, therefore I would prefer to keep it secret until then out of respect for my family and myself. But I’m happy to report that I’m improving daily and doing lot better.”My NBA career has ended, so I wanted to post this message for you today.”

Rubio continued, saying, “After playing 12 years in the league, with all its ups and downs, I have collected lots of good memories and great relationships.” He then reflected on his time spent with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, and Cleveland.

In 2005, at the age of 14, Rubio made history as the youngest Liga ACB player ever. In 2011, he moved from FC Barcelona to Minnesota.

Despite an ACL injury that ended his NBA debut season, he still finished second in the Rookie of the Year vote.
After spending two years at Utah from 2017 to 2019, the point guard spent a season with Phoenix. After that, he went

back to Minnesota until signing a contract with Cleveland in August 2021.
Only four months later, he sustained another ACL injury that prevented him from playing the rest of the season.

Additionally, Rubio has played for the Spanish national basketball team, which won a global championship in 2019. He won bronze in Rio 2016 and silver in Beijing 2008, his two Olympic medals.
