The head coach of Ohio State makes predictions and brings in fresh talent for their squad.
In the transfer portal, the Ohio State Buckeyes may not be finished yet. Nick Sabans retirement had a significant influence on Julian Sayin’s choice to sign as a five-star freshman from Alabama and rank as the first overall quarterback. Sayin said on Friday that he intended to use the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Upon Saban’s retirement, all players on the roster, including those who had signed during the early signing period, had 30 days to access the portal. At this point, it seems like Sayin may end up at Ohio State.
Clutch Points Clutch Points The insider has recorded an RPM forecast with 70% confidence for Ohio State, and according to reports from On3’s Pete Nakos, the Buckeyes are now the front-runner to win Sayin. Nakos also stated that the Buckeyes’ decision could ultimately come down to Bill O’Brien’s appointment.
The new offensive coordinator at Ohio State, Bill O’Brien, and Sayin already have a relationship. During his most recent stint at the collegiate level, the veteran NFL head coach and offensive coordinator assisted Sayin’s recruitment at Alabama for a while.
There is familiarity between the offensive coordinator and quarterback even though O’Brien left the Tide for the 2023 season to return to the New England Patriots. That being said, with Caleb Williams going to the NFL, Malachi Nelson going to the transfer portal, and redshirt Miller Moss seemingly destined to start in 2024, USC would have appeared to be a more sensible destination for Sayin.
However, the quarterback room for the Buckeyes is already congested, so if Sayin is eventually selected, it may have repercussions around the quarterback position.
