The Chiefs has just announced another unexpected great signing…
Ian Book, a former quarterback for Notre Dame, has been signed by the Kansas City Chiefs to a reserve/future deal in a calculated move. Book will have the chance to push for a spot on the Chiefs roster in the 2019 training camp thanks to this deal.
Examining Ian Book’s Career
Book’s NFL career has been a journeyman’s. He was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles team during their Super Bowl run in 2021, having played for the New Orleans Saints in his rookie season. Book was able to practice with the New England Patriots for a short time, but he hasn’t been able to play for the Chiefs this postseason.
Prior to entering the NFL, Book enjoyed success as a collegiate player at Notre Dame, where from 2017 to 2020, he set a record for the most victories by a starting quarterback. NFL scouts were drawn to his play at Notre Dame, which resulted in his selection in the NFL Draft.
Leaders’ Approach and Prospects for the Future
The Chiefs’ decision to sign Ian Book is viewed as a calculated move to increase their pool of quarterback alternatives going forward. The Chiefs are headed to their sixth consecutive Divisional Round after defeating the Miami Dolphins in the NFL playoffs’ Wild Card round. Outstanding efforts by players like L’Jarius Sneed versus elite receivers like Tyreek Hill have been a major factor in the team’s success.
The Chiefs have a long and successful history. Originally established as the Dallas Texans in 1959, they moved to Kansas City in 1963. Since 2019, they have participated in three Super Bowls and won two of them. They have also won three AFL titles. With a market worth of more than $3.7 billion, the team is among the best in the American Football League.
