Updates on injuries: Garrett, Etienne, Dolphins, Bengals.
Myles Garrett, the pass rusher for the Browns, most likely had some structural damage done to his left shoulder; the injury worsened during the team’s defeat the previous weekend. According to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Garrett is adamant about playing this season even though it’s unclear if the injury will even require surgery.
After the Broncos game on Sunday, Garrett expressed his terrible feelings. “My shoulder aches, everything hurts. Still, we must continue, must roll on until the wheels come off. Particularly towards the end, we’re enjoying how this team is truly gelling and are having a lot of success. And when Sunday arrives, we’re going to keep working hard to be well-rested and in shape.
Garrett acknowledged that he had experienced a pop in his shoulder during the game, but he also disclosed that the problem has persisted throughout the season. Garrett may have a completely different injury, as Cabot speculates that the pass rusher may be dealing with a partial dislocation, or the injury could be related to the AC joint sprain he sustained last season.
In2022, the former first-overall selection is expected to be selected again for the All-Pro team. Garrett has 13 sacks, 23 QB hits, and 12 tackles for loss in 11 games.
More notes on injuries from around the NFL…
Prior to Monday Night Football, there was some positive news for the Bengals on both sides of the ball. Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson and wide receiver Tee Higgins are expected to play against the Jaguars, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With a hamstring injury, Higgins has missed the last three games, and Wilson is still healing from an ankle injury from last weekend. Sadly, not everything in Cincinnati is positive. According to Schefter, Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt will not play on Monday night after spraining his ankle during practice this week.
Conversely, RB Travis Etienne is expected to play on Monday night according to Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, as reported by ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. Etienne had to leave the game briefly due to a rib injury he sustained last weekend, and he has been practicing sparingly this week. In his absence on Monday, the Jaguars will rely on rookie Tank Bigsby and D’Ernest Johnson.
This weekend, De’Von Achane is anticipated to play for the Dolphins, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. The running back was injured in his knee, but he was sidelined again for Week 12 despite recovering in time for Week 11. Terron Armstead, who sustained a quadriceps injury on Black Friday, stated he plans to play this weekend. The offensive tackle could have missed several weeks, so this is a positive development for the Dolphins offense.
