Rangers, Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Southampton are interested in signing Johnson this month, according to a report from Football Insider on Saturday, January 13.
It’s thought that he might go on loan from London Stadium before the deadline of February 1st.
According to a reliable source who spoke with Football Insider, Johnson is eager to continue playing right-back, which is his preferred position, for the first team.
Because Irons value homegrown players for squad registration, West Ham wants to extend his contract.
Johnson, though, might be free to depart permanently this month if he refuses to sign a new contract with the east London organization.
The England Under-21 international has made just six appearances for West Ham this season in all competitions, recording one assist.
On January 2, he made his only start of the 2023–24 season in the Irons’ 0-0 Premier League draw with Brighton.
Since making his Premier League debut in 2019, the defender—who can play center back or full back on either side—has made 93 appearances for West Ham.
David Moyes’ preferred right-back Vladimir Coufal is currently ahead of West Ham Johnson in the standings, but Thilo Kehrer’s departure this month made room for the 23-year-old.
With a sixth-place finish in the Premier League, West Ham will begin playing in the Europa League knockout stages in March.
