Sadly, four players’ wrongdoing has resulted in the suspension of the Southern Maryland Senators from their conference.

Less than a day after Abdul Ningi, the former chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), was suspended by the Senate due to charges of inflating the budget for 2024, the Southern Senators Forum (SSF) has chosen new executive officers to oversee the organization’s operations in the 10th Senate.

Senator Victor Umeh (LP, Anambra Central) has emerged as the Vice Chairman of the SSF, and the new chairman is Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (APC, Lagos East), who also chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.

The forum’s other executives are Senators Mpigi Barinada (PDP, Rivers South East), Asuquo Ekpenyong (APC, Cross River North), and Kenneth Eze (APC, Ebonyi Central), who serve as secretary and treasurer, respectively.

The Senate Leader is replaced by Senator Abiru Since the 9th Assembly, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has served as the forum’s chairman.

Speaking to reporters soon after the South West, South East, and South South senators’ meeting, Abiru stated that they will work with the Northern Senators Forum to advance the nation.

“It is our expectation and the duty placed upon us to prioritize and advance the interests of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“And since we also share an environment with our northern brothers, it is our destiny to collaborate closely with them in order to advance Nigeria.” We currently place importance on Nigeria’s unity,” he emphasized.

The SSF members would spring into action and roll out, according to the new chairman “We will work out our plans” with reference to their aspirations for the advancement of the area and Nigeria. Our power has been transferred by the previous leadership. The forum has being operated by us as though we don’t exist.

“The head of the Southern Senators Forum was the current Senate leader. Senator Abiru said, “We have new leadership, which is headed by myself. He was too involved with other concerns.

Prior to the meeting, Senator Bamidele stated that a change in leadership was necessary because of his current role as the 10th Senate’s Leader, which precluded him from delivering the necessary leadership.

The senatorial fora of the north and south existed even before the 10th Senate, so what is happening here today is not new.

“Now new executive members will be announced to lead the forum’s business during the meeting of the southern senators, he said.
