The NBA has employed Ham as a coach since 2011. Before spending a few years with the Atlanta Hawks, he worked as an assistant for the Lakers for a few seasons. He joined the Bucks in 2018, just as they were rising up the Eastern Conference standings.
The Bucks have been one of the Sixers’ main Eastern rivals during Ham’s time with Milwaukee. The Bucks have been a serious threat every time the two teams have played in the postseason, even though the Sixers started playing in the playoffs in 2018 gaining victory in 2021.
Due to the Bucks’ recent success, Ham has been a sought-after candidate for head coach positions. After the Lakers severed their relationship with Frank Vogel two summers ago, he was hired as head coach.
Regretfully, Ham was just the Lakers’ head coach for 164 games. The Lakers led by Ham finished with a 90-74 record in two seasons. The Lakers advanced to the Western Conference Finals in their inaugural season. Despite the unfortunate outcome, it appeared that the Lakers were headed in the right direction. Results from the previous season showed that wasn’t the case.
The Lakers’ 2023–2024 playoff journey concluded in five games after they finished 47–35. Following their first-round exit, the Lakers hired a coaching staff. putting an end to the Ham period in two years. Following several months of contemplating his future move, Ham comes back to Milwaukee to support Doc Rivers.
Adrian Griffin was fired by the Bucks a few months into the 2023–2024 NBA season. After three seasons with the Sixers, Rivers became a free agent and took over. With a 49-33 record at the end of the season, the Bucks were third in the Eastern Conference.
