After regaining her spot in the team after a protracted injury layoff, Sky Sports’ Kirsty Edwards evaluates what kind of boost Leah Williamson will provide to the England Women’s roster. This is the first time that Williamson has been included in an England Women’s squad after recovering from a major knee injury.
Williamson, the captain of England, made a comeback to action for the Gunners after having to miss the Women’s World Cup due to an ACL tear last summer.
following a nine-month layoff, he returned to action for the Gunners in late January. He is now eligible to play for the Lionesses in the next friendly against Austria and Italy in February.
The defender for Arsenal will be included in an England squad for the first time since the squad won the Women’s Finalissima title in April 2023.
