Andy Reid announced that one of his important players has been suspended by the NFL for the following reasons:

Justyn Ross of the Kansas City Chiefs was suspended by the NFL for six regular-season games on Friday, the league announced. Ross’s violation of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy stemmed from his involvement in an October domestic violence incident.

On the other hand, Ross’s five weeks on the Commissioner Exempt List are counted against his sentence. This implies that after Kansas City’s Sunday home game against Buffalo, the league will lift Ross’ suspension. For the first time since the initial incident on October 23, Ross was seen in the Chiefs locker room on Friday.

After a fight with his girlfriend that day, Ross was taken into custody by the Shawnee Police Department and charged with domestic abuse and criminal property damage. Given that Ross and the Johnson County District Court reached a diversion agreement late last month, those charges may eventually be dropped.

The agreement’s conditions have not been disclosed to the public. The arrest affidavit states that Ross and his girlfriend got into a fight on October 23 after Ross became enraged over her cheating on him. According to the affidavit, the victim told police that Ross “began yelling, ‘got in her face,’ and told her to get her stuff out of the apartment.” Ross shoved her and threw her to the ground, she claimed to the police.

According to the court filing, he also started hurling objects at her. The victim’s hand had a tiny scratch that the officers saw. The victim reported to the police that Ross had stolen multiple items, including her Mercedes key, a laptop, a cellphone, and jewelry. According to the affidavit, she informed the police that Ross allegedly “took scissors and scratched her Mercedes down the sides of the vehicle (the damage to the vehicle was estimated to be under $1,000).” Officers noticed that her car had new scratches on it.

The day following his arrest, Ross was freed from jail on a $2,500 bond; at the time, he declined to comment. For particular situations, there is a special player status called the Commissioner’s Exempt List. Ross was not allowed to practice or attend games while he was on the list, and he was also left off of the Chiefs’ 53-man roster. Should the Chiefs decide to reactivate him, that could alter as soon as next week. In seven games this season, Ross, a second-year receiver out of Clemson, has three catches for 34 yards for Kansas City.
