The Alabama classic and talented player have returned from a catastrophic injury to prepare for their match.
Jehiem Oatis, a defensive lineman for Alabama football, was fully healthy for the start of preseason camp after missing spring practice due to an injury.
During the Crimson Tide’s open practice sessions on Wednesday, Oatis made an appearance in uniform and took part in drills. Head coach Kalen DeBoer afterwards affirmed his return.
DeBoer stated, “He was almost ready right at the end of spring ball.” He’s had a pleasant summer, and we’re looking forward to what he can bring to the table. He was really nearly there. We would have definitely made sure he was outside at that time if spring ball had been in session for an additional week.
For the Crimson Tide, Oatis adds a crucial veteran presence up front. In 2023, the junior played in all 13 games and started three for Alabama.
Last season, he totaled 26 tackles for UA. The native of Mississippi also contributed a half-sack.
In 2022, Oatis made ten starts for the Tide and was named a freshman all-SEC by the league’s coaches. Prior to that year, he arrived at Alabama as a four-star prospect.
Nick Saban, the former head coach, complimented Oatis’ development in the 2023 campaign.
On Thursday, Alabama will resume its preseason training. The Crimson Tide take on Western Kentucky in Tuscaloosa on August 31 to kick off the season.
