Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs Discusses Concept In Comparison to Other Elite Quarterbacks, He Is Underpaid
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes talks about his concept and how he’s underpaid compared to other elite quarterbacks.
The quarterback market was completely reset in the summer of 2020 when Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year, $477 million contract extension. It is still one of the richest contracts in sports history.
After Love and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins signed new contracts, this development has been in the spotlight again. What does Mahomes think of it? Not much, the man said to himself.
When asked if he believed he was underpaid, Mahomes responded, “Not necessarily,” per Nick Shook of NFL.com. “I believe we manage my money really well, which allows us to pay me a lot and maintain a strong team around me.” I am aware that we have somewhat reorganized it a few times, increasing cash flow in some areas and during particular years.”
With the Chiefs having won the last two Super Bowls, Mahomes’ high pay hasn’t caused them any real problems yet.
