Every season it seems like the Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the favorites to win the World Series. Unfortunately, though, after winning the 1988 World Series, one of Major League Baseball’s blue blood teams has only won one championship. Despite their large cost and well-stocked squad, the Dodgers have a reputation for being one of the league’s most disappointing teams, and their victory in 2020 during the truncated COVID-19 season did little to change that perception.
Amidst the Dodgers’ record-breaking 10-year playoff streak—the longest in North American sports—teams, fans, and media from all over the league frequently express their disdain for the Dodgers and their supporters for what they see as pampered behavior. The Dodgers Fans have long bemoaned their team’s inadequacies, and it’s understandable why they are furious considering the team’s aspirations and the Avengers-caliber squad they consistently assemble.
Even though it is said every year, with Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto joining their pitching rotation, the time is really now to continue winning World Series victories. Roberts is the first player on the Dodgers organization’s “chopping block,” and he properly risks his reputation should he fail to win a championship for Los Angeles this coming season. Should Roberts be sacked, Mark DeRosa, the USA manager for the World Baseball Classic, and Clayton McCullough, an inside contender, might take over. Even if Roberts is a well-known candidate for management roles in the event that he is fired, it is unlikely that he will manage at such a coveted location once more in the event that the forthcoming season is judged to be another disaster.
