As the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners softball team, she has struck another pay contract.
Not only is Patty Gasso the most successful softball coach in Oklahoma history, but she may be the best coach ever to have ever coached the game.
Gasso, who has been the Sooners’ coach since 1995, has guided Oklahoma to consecutive national titles and is aiming for a four-peat this year. In Division I softball history, she is also third all-time in victories by a single coach (1,502-351-2) and owns the record for the greatest winning percentage (.810).

With her seven career national championships, Gasso is tied for second all-time behind Arizona veteran Mike Candrea. Due to her ability to build a dynasty with the Sooners, the 61-year-old coach has earned the title of highest-paid coach, a position she has held for a long time.

Patty Gasso, the softball coach at Oklahoma, receives $1.775 million a year after the OU Board of Regents approved her most recent rise in September 2022.
In addition to a $130,000 increase to the additional income clause in her contract, which brought the total to $825,000, Gasso’s initial raise comprised a $20,000 increase to her regular salary, bringing the total to $300,000. Through 2028, her supplementary income component will increase by $50,000 each July 1st, and as of right now, the contract pays her $875,000 in unrestricted private funds.
In addition, Gasso gets a fully vested annual retirement income of $300,000 and a stay benefit of $200,000 every February 1. On July 1, 2023, Gasso’s retirement income increased to $400,000.
