We cannot afford to lose him, and the rumors of his injuries have angered the fans.

After suffering injuries in two NFC Championship games, quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers all but destroyed the team’s hopes of making it to the Super Bowl. Before that, Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, the other two starters for San Francisco, were both sidelined by injuries that ended their seasons.

Deebo Samuel, a wide receiver, has also sustained numerous injuries in recent years.

These five players need to be healthy above all others if the defending NFC champions are to improve on last year’s performance in the Super Bowl.

This offseason, Jennings re-signed with the team. He had a fantastic performance in the NFL’s biggest game, the Super Bowl, when, had the 49ers prevailed, he might have been named the game’s MVP.

Given Deebo’s track record of persistent injuries and the ongoing contract dispute involving Brandon Aiyuk, Jennings needs to be on the field as much as possible. Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing, two inexperienced rookies, shouldn’t be given excessive duty or load.

With five touchdown receptions in his debut season of 2021, Jennings demonstrated promise.

In the years that have followed, he has only had one.

On the 49ers depth chart, the former Volunteer from the University of Tennessee shouldn’t be disregarded or underestimated. San Francisco may boast a number of excellent wide receivers, but Jennings was kept and brought back for a reason.

Joshua Dobbs, a pitcher from the NFC North, was enticed by the Niners to take his place. If Purdy were to suffer an injury, there would be an uncomfortable amount of pressure on a relatively inexperienced but competent Dobbs to step in.

Purdy passed for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns in the previous campaign. Similar to his greatest quarterback rating of 72.8, both of those scores were among the top five in the NFL.

In each of his three playoff games from the previous season, including his first-ever Super Bowl participation, Purdy threw for one touchdown. In the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions, he only threw one pick.
