Breaking news: The New York Yankees have lost a longtime fan in a car accident. This is tragic news.
In upstate New York, during a downpour, a tree crushed the wife of a sales executive for the New York Yankees, killing her.
On Wednesday, 50-year-old Catherine Tusiani passed away in Armonk while driving north on Route 128.
Around 5:30 p.m., according to the North Castle Police Department, a tree struck her Toyota between School Street and Leisure Farm Drive. The uncontrollable gusts of fifty miles per hour of wind brought the tree down while she was less than half a mile from her house.
Michael J. Tusiani, her spouse and the father of their two daughters, is the Yankees’ senior vice president of partnerships.
The Yankees released a statement saying, “Words cannot express the devastating impact that is being felt within the Yankees family following the sudden and tragic loss of Cathy Tusiani.”
“Cathy’s husband, Michael, has served the Yankees organization and the Steinbrenner family for more than 20 years, and during that time, our front office staff has been blessed to witness and experience her kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, and great love for him.”
‘The Yankees stand with Michael, his daughters Alexa and Julia, and the Tusiani family to provide our complete support and unconditional love as we traverse this terrible loss,’ the statement reads.
Since then, the enormous tree has been divided into smaller sections and abandoned on the side of the road.
The mother-of-two was the only person inside the car at the time, according to police confirmation.
The police departments of Westchester and North Castle are looking into the incident.
“The circumstances surrounding Catherine’s tragic accident serve as an unfortunate reminder of the unpredictable nature of life, particularly in the face of adverse weather conditions,” Westchester County Executive George Latimer said to the New York Post.
