After retiring, the Giants team captain sends a message to the organization and fans.
Logan Ryan, a former safety and captain of the New York Giants, declared his official retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, April 9.
“I appreciate all of my family, friends, and teammates for their support and guidance!” Ryan made a post on X. “I appreciate the fans watching! Won two Super Bowls and left the game in good health to be the best father I could be for my kids! Once more, thank you for 11 seasons! Let’s toast to the future 🥂.
A video that opened with Ryan declaring, without a doubt, “I am officially retiring from the NFL after 11 seasons” followed the message.
The video montage then went right into a much younger Ryan announcing his intention to enter the NFL draft while attending Rutgers, a nearby university in New Jersey. Highlights from his seasons with the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and Giants were shown after that little clip.
After the first round of recollections, Ryan stopped and said, “Man, what a great career, what a ride it was.” “As always, a beautiful journey filled with highs and lows.”
The veteran then sent another shout-out to his teammates, friends, family, and “everyone that supported” him. He said, “I try to play the right way.” “I always try to play as hard as I can.”
Ryan remarked, “[Thank you] for literally saving my wife’s life and for bringing me home back to New Jersey during the COVID years,” specifically addressing the Giants club. I sincerely appreciate the organization’s training personnel and their help in saving my wife Ashley.
Ryan also expressed gratitude to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, two teams he played for following his time with Big Blue, in addition to the Patriots and Titans.
He said, “I’m so blessed,” to end the video. “I wouldn’t change it for the world,” they continued.
According to Pro Football Reference, he also recorded over 200 total tackles in two seasons at safety, including 17 pass defenses, two sacks, five forced fumbles, and one interception.
Regretfully, the Giants teams under Ryan’s tenure weren’t very good overall, finishing 10-23. And according to Pro Football Focus, Ryan’s coverage statistics decreased while he was with the New York Giants, but he was notably steady throughout his career.
This includes his tenure with the Giants, where, according to PFF, he played in over 2,000 defensive snaps and was credited with 40 crucial defensive “stops.”
