breaking news: the head coach of Michigan travels baseball has divorced his wife with.

Prior to embarking on a remarkable coaching career that saw him guide Grand Rapids Community College to four National Junior College Athletic Association titles and be inducted into the Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, he played minor league baseball.

Along the way, Doug “Wabs” Wabeke had an impact on many lives.

Head baseball coach Kevin Tidey of Davenport University said to MLive/The Grand Rapids Press, “He’s the biggest reason I got into coaching.”

Many in the local baseball community were taken aback by his demise. He was well known for working out early every morning. He was dubbed an “ironman” by Tidey.

Wabeke was coached and played with by Mike Cupples, a former minor league player and assistant coach at Grand Valley State University.

Cupples stated, “He loved the game.” “I attempted to coach in his manner.”
