At last, the NBA acknowledged the Atlanta Hawks as the most…
The Atlanta Hawks were predicted to be among the most intriguing teams to watch in the NBA this offseason even before they emerged victorious in the NBA Draft Lottery. The Hawks were the team that people were talking about the most before the NBA trade deadline, but they decided to stay with their current squad and made no trades.
They don’t seem to be planning to do that during the offseason.
The backcourt tandem of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray appears to be splitting up for Atlanta, and other players like Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter, and possibly even Bogdan Bogdanovic or Onyeka Okongwu may be on the move. Atlanta unexpectedly won the draft lottery on top of everything else, which added an intriguing layer.

However, Atlanta might be unduly concerned about putting together a respectable defense to surround him. It’s also possible that neither party is opposed to a change, or the front office may realize that the 25-year-old who was selected to the All-NBA team will fetch a higher salary.
Beyond that, it’s hard to predict how Atlanta’s mindset will be affected by winning the first overall pick. It’s probably not going to be enough to flip both Murray and Young with a total rebuild if Zaccharie Risacher or Alex Sarr are netted. But is that really off the table, to be honest?
Everything is clouded by the luxury tax’s proximity. The Hawks will be over the cap going into the offseason—not even taking into consideration Saddiq Bey’s restricted-free-agent hold.
The C-Suiters probably won’t let that go unnoticed. Furthermore, if cutting salaries is the mandate, it will undoubtedly come into play when determining who they trade with and what they value in return.”
The Hawks’ selection in the draft would have likely been the top pick if there was a can’t-miss prospect in this class, but since neither player is, the possibility of a trade involving either of these players will be one of the biggest offseason narratives.
