After many long years of waiting, the owner of the Hamilton Tigers Cats called for a celebration.

The CFL Commissioner’s Award, given yearly to a “individual or individuals who have demonstrated dedication, and have made a significant contribution, to Canadian football,” was won by Bob Young, owner of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The award has been given out since 1990.

Commissioner Randy Ambrosie stated in a statement that “the team faced a very uncertain future, but it had a storied past when Bob Young purchased it in 2003.” “The Tiger-Cats are prosperous, dependable, and strong today. They represent the pinnacle of a contemporary sports franchise and play in a stunning facility.

“They are the cornerstone asset of the Hamilton Sports Group, an entertainment and sports powerhouse that is rapidly rising to prominence. Bob is a football hero even though he does not look the part with his lean frame and signature baseball cap.

Young frequently asserts that he is merely the Tiger-Cats’ caregiver rather than their owner. Bob was greatly influenced by his late brother Mike, who was an ardent supporter of Hamilton’s CFL team, during his football career.

Hugh Campbell, the ten-time Grey Cup champion who managed the Edmonton Football Team’s dynasty, Bernie Custis, the first black quarterback in the CFL, and renowned quarterback Russ Jackson of the Ottawa Rough Riders are among the previous winners of the award.
