Chris Young, general manager of the Texas Rangers, is nearing the end of his contract. Ray Davis, the team owner, is attempting to alter that.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Davis and the Rangers are in talks to extend his contract.
In a statement, Davis informed the newspaper that he and Young had been talking about a contract extension for “a couple of months.” He added that the team’s primary goal right now is to hold onto the World Series championship.
It’s odd that Young doesn’t have a contract after this season. After a successful season, the majority of managers and general managers typically receive an extension. For example, with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, general manager Nico Harrison and head coach Jason Kidd have extended their contracts.
