The Philadelphia Eagles’ poor record is a result of injury records…

To start the last week of preparation for the regular season, three players were designated as non-participants, including DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles receiver.

 

Late in the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ 35-31 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, Smith sustained an ankle injury. In the game’s final offensive play, he was rolling his ankle while blocking a screen pass to Kenny Gainwell on a third-and-19.

 

After the game, Smith was observed using crutches and a walking boot, but by Wednesday afternoon, he had taken off the boot and was moving about the locker room without any limp. The Eagles definitely escaped a serious injury, even if he is unable to play on Sunday.

Since the Eagles had a walkthrough on Wednesday, the following report is speculative:

During the Cardinals game defeat, Smith and Davis sustained injuries. Late in the game, Smith sustained an injury. Davis was allowed to rejoin the game after leaving for a short while.

 

Head coach Nick Sirianni hinted that every player on the active roster might be able to play in Week 18 against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, despite the fact that a few Eagles did not practice on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Sirianni stated, “I think we are going to have an opportunity to have everybody up this week.” “There is a balance, though, between wanting to get that work done and then also making sure guys are healthy to travel, and that is a sign of how good the physicians, trainers, and strength staff are.”

 

That Maddox is at least a limited participant is encouraging. Even if he was hurt on Sunday, he at least avoided reinjuring his pectoral. After missing months due to a torn pec in Week 2, Maddox returned on Sunday. It would seem that he should be allowed to play in the playoffs, even if he is unable to play against the Giants.

Following the Cowboys defeat on December 10, Slay, 33, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and has missed the last three games. The Eagles thought he might return during the next four games, so they decided not to place him on injured reserve. Naturally, there is a fair probability that Sunday’s game will not have much of an impact on the standings because MetLife Stadium’s surface is notoriously poor and the weather is predicted to be wintry.

 

Due to a knee ailment, 29-year-old Cunningham has also missed the previous three games. Cunningham, who has been the Eagles’ top linebacker all season, has been sorely missed.

The Eagles still have a purpose to compete on Sunday even though it appears likely that they will finish as the NFC’s fifth seed. The Eagles would still win the NFC East and secure the No. 2 spot if they triumph and the Cowboys somehow lose to the Commanders in Washington.
