James Houston, a player for the Detroit Lions, has been suspended, per the coach.

Ahead of their regular season finale, the Detroit Lions defense looks to be getting reinforcements.

In his weekly radio interview with 97.1 The Ticket, Dan Campbell expressed his desire for both C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Alim McNeill to be active for Sunday’s regular season finale against Minnesota.

Gardner-Johnson has not been available since Week 2, and McNeill has not been available since sustaining an injury in Week 13 against New Orleans. Gardner-Johnson has 21 days remaining on his practice contract, so the Lions have to decide whether to activate him or place him back on injured reserve.

Conversely, McNeill, who has been on the injured reserve list for the past four weeks, is eligible to be activated this week.

James Houston, an outside linebacker, is not expected to be activated by Detroit’s third-year head coach. Last Thursday marked the start of the second-year pass rusher’s 21-day return-to-practice clock.

Campbell responded, “Yes, I do want to get Mac and Deucey up.” “At this moment, I don’t see Houston. That’s, once more, following a day or two of seeing him last week. However, I think we can start Mac and Deucey this week.”

Repercussions of the contentious two-point try

In reference to the contentious two-point conversion that was ruled invalid due to illegal touching, Campbell stated on Tuesday that he has yet to receive a response from the league.

That moment has given rise to a great deal of controversy. Campbell restated that he showed the play to the referees prior to the game, and they were attempting to hide which offensive lineman was registering as eligible.

He claimed, though, that he has not heard back from the league regarding the official explanation for the circumstances.

“No, I have not yet returned,” Campbell clarified. “So, no, I don’t have any different thoughts.”
