Memphis Tigers two current star players have finally been disowned automatically by signing and moving to play for another team violently.
Penny Hardaway remains optimistic that Memphis basketball’s top scorer, David Jones, will return for the 2024–25 campaign.
By early June, the Tigers’ seventh-year coach hopes to have most, if not all, of his new roster on the field. He anticipates that the majority of his new players, if not all of them, will fit in better with his coaching style. Furthermore, Hardaway anticipates that the majority of the newcomers to Memphis, if not all of them, will be well aware of the significance of each and every game on the schedule.
Hardaway just made his first public remarks since the season-ending events on March 14 for his team. During a late-night interview with Matt Infield and Dave Woloshin for the final episode of “The Coach Penny Hardaway Show” on WMC Action News 5 (which was captured on April 12), Hardaway talked about a variety of subjects, one of them being the unwelcome distinction that the 2023–24 season has for him.

Will David Jones return to the basketball team in Memphis?
Jones submitted his NBA Draft declaration on April 20. However, the top scorer and rebounder for the Tigers in the previous campaign may still be able to play in Memphis next season.
In March, Hardaway expressed his belief that the program had a good chance of having Jones return for 2024–2025.
He stated, “I would say 60-40, 70-30 us,” just before the season was over.
He still finds Memphis appealing.possibilities.
Hardaway stated on the program, “Jones is definitely trying to chase his dreams with the NBA.” “There were no draft boards for him. Is there anything particular he can do? Indeed. However, they typically want you to return when you’re not on the selection boards. Thus, I’m considering a 70–30 return. That’s simply how I feel.
During an interview on a sports talk program in his home Dominican Republic in early April, Jones made his most recent public remarks regarding the issue.
“I’m not sure yet,” he said. “With that choice, I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. Because I may end up making the wrong option if I place a lot of pressure on myself.”
