“The Leveler,” quarterback Chris Streveler, is worked out by the Chicago Bears.

Chris Streveler, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, is working out on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Before joining the Arizona Cardinals in the CFL, Chris Streveler was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2018 and 2019. With Winnipeg, he won the Grey Cup in 2019.

Streveler is renowned for his ability to rush the ball and his propensity to try to outrun opponents. It’s possible that Streveler will get to play for his home team. He was a high school athlete for Marian Central Catholic, a suburb of Chicago, in Naperville, Illinois.

2018–2019 Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were Streveler’s first professional football team. Throughout his two seasons with the Bombers, he made 35 appearances in regular season games, making 12 starts. Out of 374 passes, he completed 242 (64.7%) for 2,698 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. In addition, he scored 22 rushing touchdowns and gained 1,174 yards on 205 rushes (5.73 average).

He was instrumental in Winnipeg’s 2019 postseason run that resulted in a Grey Cup victory over Hamilton. He ran 13 times for 82 yards and a touchdown against Calgary in the Western Semi-Final. Mostly in short-yardage situations, Streveler ran nine times for thirty yards in the Grey Cup victory over Hamilton. In addition, he completed all three of his pass attempts for 39 yards, including the game’s lone passing touchdown for Winnipeg, an 18-yard pass to Andrew Harris down the middle.

Arizona Cardinals Ezoic (2020–2021)
In February 2020, Streveler signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals. After the 2019 Winnipeg season, he also worked out for the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2020’s 17th week, Streveler entered the NFL, replacing Kyler Murray due to an injury. In the Rams game, he gained 15 yards on the ground and completed 11 of his 16 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown with one interception.

In two 2021 preseason games, he played and completed 17 out of 30 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown. In addition, he ran for 59 yards on 12 rushes, including a 23-yard touchdown against Dallas.

In Week 10 against Carolina, Streveler completed 6 of his 9 passes for 36 yards. Less than two weeks later, the Cardinals released him.

Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins (2021–2022)
After being released by the Arizona Cardinals, Streveler signed a practice squad contract with the Baltimore Ravens in November 2021. The Miami Dolphins signed him in February 2022, but he was cut loose in May of the same year.

Jets in New York (2022–2023)
Chris Streveler signed with the New York Jets in late July of 2022, and that team was his most recent employer. In all three of the Jets’ preseason games in 2022, he led them to victories in the fourth quarter. It was a fantastic preseason performance. He completed 24 of his 33 passes for 277 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 interception during the preseason. On nine rushes, he also gained 71 yards.

In the week 16 loss in 2022, Ezoic Streveler came in for Zach Wilson and completed 10 of his 15 passes for 90 yards, adding 54 yards on 9 rushes.

After settling his injuries, Streveler was released from the 2023 preseason after suffering an injury during the Hall of Fame game.

University
Prior to transferring to play for South Dakota, Streveler spent his first three seasons of collegiate football with Minnesota. Streveler spent two seasons as a South Dakota player, participating in 23 games and starting 22 of them. He completed 480 out of his 754 passes for 6,081 yards, 54 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. In addition, he completed 329 rushes for 1,543 yards and 20 touchdowns (4.7 average).

In addition to finishing second in the Walter Payton Award competition, he was the 2017 MVFC Offensive Player of the Year.
