Just in: Two of Ajax’s best players are suspended as a result of domestic violence with…
Ajax’s awful season is still going strong; their countless difficulties this season have only been exacerbated by a week of torment.
As the most successful club in the Netherlands, they have won 20 KNVB Cups and 36 Eredivisie titles, making them one of the most well-known names in European football.
but not at this time of year. They underperformed in European competitions, were eliminated early from their local cup, and currently sit sixth in the league.
Along with the dismal performance, they have also experienced numerous off-field problems, including as raucous demonstrations from the fervent supporters of the team and a managerial turnover since Erik ten Hag’s departure in 2022.
However, a series of incidents in the last few days have compounded Ajax’s problems, and they will be keen to find a solution as soon as possible to put a stop to this awful season.
As a result, Ajax is now a massive 33 points behind PSV Eindhoven, the league leaders, and 24 points behind Feyenoord, who is in second place.
John van t Schip took over as manager of Ajax on October 30, and while he is unlikely to stay till the conclusion of the season, there has been much conjecture about who might replace him.
Along with a number of coaches from throughout Europe, Man United’s assistant manager Mitchell van der Gaag and Liverpool’s No. 2 Pep Linders are rumored to be on their managing shortlist.
However, Patrick Kluivert, a former striker for Ajax, Barcelona, and the Netherlands, claims he has no idea why his former team has not approached him about taking over as head coach.
Ajax player Kluivert said to Rondo on Ziggo Sport that “it does hurt to see your club like this.” Kluivert played for Ajax from 1984 to 1997.
