Due to the injury, The all-time favourite player of Hamilton tigers cats football player has officially announced her retirement.

Javien Elliott, a defensive back with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to 3DownNation.

The 30-year-old revealed the news on Thursday by sharing a highlight reel on Instagram with the following caption:

How wonderful it is to be alive, man. I debated returning this season, but ultimately opted against it, and by the time you read this, it’s too late. I like the views from the sixth floor, but nothing remained the same, and the dogs I met there had more energy.
Was a pleasure, and I’ll be grateful forever.

Elliott made 32 defensive tackles and three interceptions in 14 games for the Ticats in 2023. For the 2024 season, he was expected to earn $95,300 in real money in addition to $3,000 in marketing, $19,400 in playtime, and performance bonuses.

The product of Panama City, Florida, signed a two-season contract with the Calgary Stampeders in 2021, where he appeared in five games while recording 12 defensive tackles.

After graduating from Florida State University in 2016, Elliott signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played 36 games over three seasons. With seven starts under his belt, the five-foot-10, 185-pound linebacker recorded 39 total tackles, four tackles for loss, one interception, and two passes defensed.

He signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2019 and played 16 games, registering 38 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception and one pass breakup before making his way to Canada. Elliott earned over $2.2 million USD while playing in the NFL.

The Ticats open the 2024 regular season by visiting the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 7.
