In the SEC Tournament semifinal on Saturday, South Carolina women’s basketball player Kamilla Cardoso stunned Tennessee with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, her first long-range attempt of the season. Her attempt spared the Gamecocks’ attempt to The Volunteers fell behind 13-0 early in the first quarter and once trailed by 23 points before mounting an intense comeback that brought back memories of the days when orange was the dominant color in the SEC. Unfortunately, the happiness was short-lived for the program.

Tennessee committed two grave errors: failing to cover Cardoso at all and missing two free shots that would have ended the game in the closing seconds.

The last 25 seconds saw Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson convert a put-back to take a 73-71 lead, putting her side in a commanding position to win. Even more so when guard Raven Johnson missed a contested 3-pointer that would have given the Gamecocks the lead with 11.5 seconds remaining after South Carolina called a Staley timeout.
