The San Diego State men’s basketball team announced their 2023–24 out-of-conference schedule after achieving the best season in program history, finishing 32–7 and qualifying for the 2023 national championship.

With a 34-7 record in non-conference games since the 2019–20 season began, SDSU presently has 13 non-conference games and one exhibition scheduled, with the possibility of adding more at a later time. Five potential opponents who participated in the postseason last year are included in the schedule; these opponents include one NIT team, three NCAA tournament teams, and possibly one more NCAA tournament team.

On Monday, Nov. 6, the program will play its regular-season and home opener against Cal State Fullerton (CSF), where the banners for the 2022–23 Mountain West and NCAA South Regional championships as well as the Final Four will be raised. Since the series began in the 1963–64 season, these teams have faced off 33 times, with SDSU having a 23–10 advantage overall. SDSU is 14-4 when playing on the home court of the Aztecs. Regardless of venue, San Diego State won the first ten meetings. Since Viejas opened, the team is 4-1 versus the Titans, having won the previous four, including an 80-57 victory the previous season. In 2022–2023 Cal State Fullerton finished with a 20–13 record, which included a 12–6 record in Big West play. CSF made it to the championship round of the conference tournament.

One of the most intense rivalries in the program will resurface four nights later on Friday, Nov. 10 in Provo, Utah when SDSU plays Brigham Young at the Marriott Center. The clubs are playing each other again in a two-game home-and-home series that ended with the Aztecs winning 82-75 at Viejas Arena the previous year. The Cougars have triumphed 50 times in the previous 76 meetings, including 30 of the 34 games played at the Marriott Center, where they defeated SDSU. The last time San Diego State played at Brigham Young, it lost 66-60. That was on November 12, 2021. Last season, the Cougars finished 19–15 and advanced to the

reached the West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament semifinals, losing 76-69 to Saint Mary’s, ranked 16th. With a 133-26 record over the last ten years in the Marriott Center, Brigham Young has the 27th-best home record in the country over that period.
